Ofglen appears in the novel for the first time on the page 28. Ofglen and Offred are partner, they’re going shopping together. They are not allowed to be alone in town. When they go shopping Offred is always looking around her, to see if there is someone she knows, but Ofglen doesn’t look, maybe because she doesn’t know anyone yet, or maybe she doesn’t want to be seen. Ofglen always walks with the head down, hands in front of her. She looks like a shy girl. Ofglen is the only way for Offred to have news of what happened around even if they are not true. She’s plumper than Offred. She has brown eyes. Offred thinks that she’s a stanch believer, but, on the page 177, we learn that Ofglen isn’t one.
Offred thinks that Ofglen has lost someone close to her, because when they are at the cemetery, she looks like she’s praying. But Offred is also thinking that maybe she’s playing a role to look perfect. She’s maybe also a sensible person, because when she’s looking the wall, she shivers and maybe she’s crying. Ofglen is also here when Ofwarren is giving birth.
At the middle of the book, Offred says that Ofglen and her are closer, they are friends.
The first time we know the physical aspect of Ofglen is at the page 176, she has an oval face, plump but not fat, and round eyes. Ofglen knows a lot of things about Gilead. At the end of the book, we learn that Ofglen hanged herself, before the black van should have taken her.

Ofwarren is also a Handmaid, her real name is Janine. Ofwarren has long hair and the color of a broom. Ofwarren has a clear voice, and it’s says on the page 139, that she often whines. In the scene at the hospital, Ofwarren is described as being a ‘’whining bitch’’ and a ‘’strong girl with good muscles’’. Aunt Lydia considers Ofwarren as a trustworthy person, that’s why she told her the story of Moira, thinking that she wouldn’t repeat it to
