Noir américain d’origine portoricaine et haïtienne, Jean-Michel Basquiat a su assimiler ce mixage des cultures dans un œuvre prolifique et critique qui mêle, à la manière d’un palimpseste, dessin, peinture et collage à une écriture tourmentée, biffée, volontairement maladroite.
