Easy Going n°4: Going Underground

Londres a été la première ville au monde à avoir un train (métro) souterrain. Les premiers trains étaient des locomotives à vapeur et avaient de la lumière grâce au gaz. Les passagers n'étaient pas pas satisfaits à cause de l'atmosphère sombre et l'odeur du gaz. Les trains étaient nécessaire même si ils avaient que cinq arrêts et la création de nouvelles lignes encourage la population à de plus en plus l'utiliser.Le nom « The underground » a été définitif en 1908.En 1905, les trains roulent grâce à l’électricité, cela rend l’expérience plus plaisante. Harry Beck a proposé une nouvelle disposition des lignes et après des test cette nouvelle carte va servir de modèle pour le monde entier. Pendant la seconde guerre mondiale les trains souterrains ont un nouveau rôle : protéger la population.

London was the first city in the world to have a train (subway) underground.The first trains were locomotives with vapor and had light thanks to gas. The passengers complained about the dark atmosphere and the odor about gas, The trains were necessary even if they had that five stations and the creation of new lines encourages the population with using it more and more. The name “The underground” was final in 1908. In 1905, the trains run thanks to electricity, that makes the experience more pleasant. Harry Beck proposed a new provision of the lines and after test this new map will be used as model for all over the world. During the Second World War the underground trains play a new role: to protect the population.
