The road to the emirate’s development was given a major boost in 2003 when Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi became the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of RAK. Since 2003, RAK has posted a cumulative average growth rate (CAGR) of over 50% in operational surpluses and the economy has almost doubled during the period between 2003 and 2008 S&P affirmed its “ A” long-term and “ A-1” short-term sovereign credit ratings on RAK. Ras Al Khaimah was rated as “ MOST COST EFFICIENT FDI DESTINATION” by Financial Times London in the year 2007 Ras Al Khaimah has been awarded “ MOST ATTRACTIVE DESTINATION FOR FDI ” in the 2008 – 2009 Middle Eastern Cities of the Future benchmark rankings
