I choose to analyse Snatch because I saw it many times and I liked it, I found this movie interesting and funny because of the way it is made, if you like Guy Ritchie's movie, how he made it, always in London with dark atmosphere, but the character are funny and engaging you always want them to succeed even if what they did is not reallymoral. Snatch entertain you till the beginning because it start in a way really funny, I liked the flashback made in appropriate time, the fact that all the characters are related even if they are not aware of it.
I choose it also because while reading what was requested ,I knew that I will find appropriate thing and I have it at home.
To analyse this text I will follow this way, first I willdescribed the story of the text and define then the theoretical concepts and associate to my text.
In a second part I will explain what a representation is and the terms associated to it.
Finally I will define the methods of analysis and apply it to Snatch.

Diamond thief and courier Franky Four Fingers (Benicio del Toro) arrives in London going to New York to deliver a huge diamondto his boss Avi (Dennis Farina). In his mission to give the stone to Avi's cousin, he is tempted into placing a bet on an illegal boxing match by Boris 'The Blade' (Rade Serbedzija). But he does not know that Boris has set him up and local pawnshop owners Vinny (Robbie Gee) and Sol (Lennie James), along with their getaway driver, Tyrone (Ade) are here to rob him at the bookies.

Meanwhile, noviceunlicensed boxing promoters, Turkish (Jason Statham) and his business partner Tommy (Stephen Graham) move into the 'big time' through a fight with local boxer and boxing promoter and pig farm owner, Bricktop (Alan Ford). But when the novice's fighter is knocked out by Mickey O'Neill (Brad Pitt), an Irish gypsy boxer with strong accent, the boys convince him to fight in their boxer's place inBricktop's rigged match.

But, Mickey proves to be highly unreliable and the duo find themselves into trouble as the fearless fighter refuses to "go down in the fourth" as planned. Fortunately, the gypsy's prowess and technique impress Bricktop, saving all three from his pig farm, but Mickey has to fight again and has to get it right, since Bricktop is not afraid to use brutality and bloodshed tomake his point.

In New York, news that Franky has been stole by the bookies sends Avi and his henchman, hop on a plane to London. They hire local legend, 'Bullet Tooth' Tony (Vinnie Jones) to find Franky and the diamond. The sorry fate of the diamond courier is soon discovered and the hunt for the missing stone launches everyone into a madcap spiral, which threatens to spin out of control. This text, Snatch is a film, directed by Guy Ritchie released in 2000 which starred Benicio del Toro, Jason Statham, Alan Ford, Stephen Graham, Brad Pitt.
With Guy Ritchies’ movie, the audience is used to the same atmosphere, in London, crime, drug, but also fun.

Genre is type; film genre is created partly through setting, appearance, plot and characterisation. It is based on therepresentations employing codes that are identifiable to the audience. For Snatch, we can say that there is many genre; action, crime (we can see weapon, murder, blood, fight), comedie (cynic answer, humour, etc).

Institution has two meaning, it can be an industry or a business but it can also refers to centres of authority present in most developed societies, including the family, the Church, themonarchy, education and media. For our particular movie, the institutions are movie industry because it regulates who will produce it, how much can he gets, who can see the movie (15, 16, 18 years old) etc, but also the media because they give information about the movie like critics, interview of the actors, director, etc.
