The greek crisis
Development The Greece is currently going through a big economic crisis. The country has enormous debts, which really ruin its economy and are starting to be a European problem. After have explain briefly what the Greece economic problem is and the solutions proposed to help Greece to get out of the crisis, we will see in a second time the problem from a more social point of view. In the First place, now the Greece’s economic problem is too big to be hidden, and the government is starting to be in troubles because investors don’t want to continue to loan to Greece, which has difficulties to pay its debts.
That is why Greece now claim support from its European partners wants and more particularly from Germany because it is the largest economy in the euro zone, so the problem is mostly in the hands of Germans because they are the most capable of helping the country.
But, Germany is reluctant to help Greece for different reasons. The first one is that facing the crisis has been difficult for them, so they can hardly pay for another country too. Moreover, we must not forget that, 55% of Germans were against euro, and if Germans come to help Greeks just because of a failure of that currency, this will strengthen the popular anger toward euro. However, Europeans lawmakers agreed to say that it is necessary to help the Greece because it appears that it is the global recession and not only Greece which is responsible for its economic mess (désordre). In March a plan has been made to help Greece but the process is going slowly, the apparatus speaks about “coordinated European action”, but does “not give any indication of the amount of aid, or how much each euro-zone country [will] contribute”.
The core of this aid program is certainly the “tough austerity package” that Greece must
