The new black girl
I came back home moroseness. I was just thinking what happened this afternoon: Allison’s reaction, my attitude with this little girl. I wasn’t very well. I climbed the stairs, one by one. Once in my room, I took my Teddy bear in my arms. I began to cry softly and then really. I felt the best cookie in the world, my mom realized that I did not well and needed comfort. She is a wonderful mum. She came to me and took me in her arms, dried my tears. My mum asked me
“What’s happened, my honey?”
I didn’t answered .I thought about Allison’s word. I always thought it was a good girl, very polished … My best friend! I was maybe wrong… I decided to tell everything to my mother, what happened: the meeting with the girl, the reaction of Allison and what I did. I explained everything to the smallest detail. She listened to me carefully. She took me down to the kitchen to eat a little of her famous cookies with chocolate and marshmallow. She spoke.
“I find your attitude this afternoon shame but I'm happy you talked to me about this story. Would you change the story and have a happy ending?” asked my mother
“Yes of course!” I answered quickly
“So listen me well, tonight we'll make lots of cupcakes, cookies and tomorrow, after a good night, you will go see this little girl. You apologize to this girl and you try you discover this girl. You know she is not different, only her color of her skin.”
I felt already better. During this evening, we made lot of things for this girl and her family. The next day I present to their door, her mother was very cold when she see me but very quickly the atmosphere became relax. She heard me and thanked me. Amelia, the little black girl was happy, I told her my shame.
